Questions from Jesus: “Where are the other nine?”

Read Luke 17:11-19

To be forgiven and to live a life of thankfulness we must realize…

1. Our tragic condition.

• Defiled, distanced, and doomed

• Understand our need and cry out to Jesus.

2. His overwhelming compassion.

• His heart

• His way

• His power

3. Our thankful comeback.

• Realize what Jesus has done.

• Live a life of extravagant praise to Him.

Confession

God, I am truly thankful to you, but I confess I am slow to count my blessings and quick to ask for more. Help me to be thankful daily for all the blessings you have given me, and to live a life of thankfulness so the world may know your generosity and love for me. May my thankfulness be seen in contentment, joy, generosity and grace towards others. Amen

• Strength

• Mind

and…

2. Love your neighbor as yourself…

• It’s a risk worth taking.

• It's compassion worth giving.

• It's time worth spending.

• It's a resource worth investing.

Confession

God, I confess, at times it is easier to love you than it is to love people. But I realize that to love you and to be loved by you should motivate me to love others. Help me to see that loving is not something I do, but it should be someone I am. I want to see all people as my neighbor and love them as Jesus has shown his love to me, sacrificially and unconditionally.
